The Medical Laboratory Technologist (JTMP) is a medical professional who performs laboratory analysis of pathological specimens through sampling such as blood, urine, phlegm, feces and body fluids. The results of laboratory analysis such as Biochemistry, Hematology, Microbiology and Histopathology Laboratory will be handed over to the care provider to treat patients who require laboratory inspection.
Career prospects for Graduate Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology can work as a Medical Laboratory Technologist in government and private hospitals. Other than that, MLT graduates have the opportunity to work in a private clinical diagnostic laboratory such as Path. Lab, Gribble Lab, BP Lab and Premier Diagnostic Lab.
The three-year learning duration is equivalent to six semesters, students are required to complete five (5) semesters for theory and practice, and one semester for clinical practice at specified hospitals under the Ministry of Health (MOH).
After graduation, students can continue their degree studies in various fields which include Biomedicine, Medical Laboratory Technology and Forensic Science at local or foreign universities.
