REPORT TO INTERNATIONAL CENTRE

The student must report to the Widad University College International Centre upon arrival or the following day:

  • Briefing - Students will be briefed by staff of International centre regarding Malaysia and its cross cultural background and any other pertinent matters.
  • Other Matters – After acquiring your long-term Visa endorsement of student visa sticker, a Bank Introduction letter will be given for opening a bank account.

Students are given about one (1) week to settle such matters after which they must hand in their passports for endorsement by the Immigration Department.

Students are advised they would not be allowed to travel out of Malaysia during this time.

WELCOME AND ORIENTATION PROGRAMMES

The welcome and orientation process will be held at Widad University College and will be conducted by Students Affair Department and International Office staff. It will be conducted for one (1) week before the class commence.

It is COMPULSORY for students to attend the orientation scheduled. Important information will be communicated for studies in Malaysia. All insurance and hospitalisation matters will be explained to the students.

MEDICAL SCREENING

You will need to go for a Medical Check-up at EMGS appointed Clinics within 7 days of your arrival in Malaysia. Please meet our staff at the International Office and we will guide you on where to go for the medical screening. Once your medical check-up is done, please HAND OVER YOUR PASSPORT & MEDICAL CHECK-UP SLIP TO OUR STAFF AT THE INTERNATIONAL OFFICE. We will then wait for your Medical Result (normally 2-5 days) before we can submit your documentations to EMGS for the support letter.

On receiving the support letter we can submit your passport for long-term endorsement of student visa sticker for the duration of your studies, maximum 1 year initially and subject to course duration. The endorsement indicates your visa type, the length of stay in Malaysia, the number of entries permitted into Malaysia and the validity of the student pass.

SUBMISSION OF PASSPORT FOR STUDENT PASS ENDORSEMENT/ EXTENSION

Please note that the VAL and Single Entry Visa (SEV) are not the Student Pass. You will only receive the long-term endorsement of student pass sticker once you have completed the post-arrival processes.

New students MUST submit their passport for endorsement together with visa charges as these are payable to the Malaysian Immigration Department.

Students are provided with a certified true copy of passport and a receipt as temporary identification pending the endorsement process.

OTHER INFORMATION

FOR EXISTING STUDENTS WHO NEED TO EXTEND THE STUDENT PASSES

Student MUST submit passport and required documents one (1) month before the current Student Pass expires. Failure to do so may result in late approvals and additional payments to obtain a Special Pass to avoid overstaying.

The student pass/visa extension procedure takes up to four (4) weeks. However, the Malaysian Immigration Department may take longer time during festive and holiday periods in the year. It is advisable to submit passports early for renewal. Students are requested not to make travel plans outside Malaysia during the endorsement process.

In addition Widad University College also imposes fines up to MYR 1,000 to cover emergency administrative paperwork and manpower to solve cases.

Students are referred to Widad University College Rules & Regulations governing their academic rights and obligations during their tenure of study in Widad University College

SETTLING IN

For many of you this will be your first time away from home and also your first time living in a foreign country and consequently you may be finding it difficult to settle in to the University. The first thing that you have to do to overcome this problem is to realise that these emotions are quite normal and that you should not feel that you are different from others by feeling homesick or lonely. There are many people to help if you are finding it difficult to settle in but before they can do anything you have to let us know that you are having problems.

Please feel free to talk to your academic tutor, the student counsellor or the International Student Support Office if you feel this will help.
