Highlights

WUC’s Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) programme is modern and innovative. It is modelled on an integrated curriculum adopted by major medical schools. The programme is recognized by the Malaysian Qualification Agency (MQA) and endorsed by the Malaysian Medical Council (MMC). Our medical programme is also listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools.

The key features of the programme:

  • During the first two years, while learning basic science subjects like human anatomy, physiology, pathology etc. you will be made aware of the interaction of society and environment on human health and well - being. You will be guided to develop a scientific mind, acquire the professional attributes, acquire the basic clinical skills required to move to the next phase of your learning by early introduction to clinical medicine. At the end of year two you will sit for your FIRST PROFESSIONAL EXAMINATION.
  • During the next three years of your second phase of learning, you will acquire the relevant clinical knowledge and enhance your clinical skills in order to be a safe, competent, effective, efficient and humane clinician. You will gradually learn the “Art of Doctoring” from our experienced local and international clinical specialists. They will inspire you to further your career after graduation and to become a lifelong learner. At the end of your fifth year you will sit for your FINAL PROFESSIONAL EXAMINATION.
  • Once you have passed the FINAL PROFESSIONAL EXAMINATION, you are already a MEDICAL DOCTOR.

Your Gateway to Endless Options in Medicine

The programme is offered by the Faculty of Medicine. The MBBS degree is a 5-year programme designed to lay a solid foundation for your challenging career in medicine. The programme is modular in nature and is structured in two (2) phases:

Phase 2 Clinical Phase – Hands on Learning Patient Care in Clinical Settings, both in the hospital and with the community 3 - 5

Programme Structure


Career Pathway

Upon graduation with the MBBS degree, Widad University College Medical graduates will be provisionally registered with the Malaysian Medical Council (MMC) and begin their housemanship (presently 2 years) in government hospitals.

Once fully registered and usually after 2-3 years of experience as a Medical Officer they can then either start their own practice (GP) or proceed to any other higher qualification in Medicine i.e. clinical specialisations or an academic pathway leading to MSc and ultimately a PhD in a particular area of interest.
