WUC’s Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) programme is modern and innovative. It is modelled on an integrated curriculum adopted by major medical schools. The programme is recognized by the Malaysian Qualification Agency (MQA) and endorsed by the Malaysian Medical Council (MMC). Our medical programme is also listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools.
The key features of the programme:
The programme is offered by the Faculty of Medicine. The MBBS degree is a 5-year programme designed to lay a solid foundation for your challenging career in medicine. The programme is modular in nature and is structured in two (2) phases:
Phase | Description | Year |
---|---|---|
Phase 1 | Basic Medical Sciences | 1 - 2 |
Phase 2 | Clinical Phase – Hands on Learning Patient Care in Clinical Settings, both in the hospital and with the community | 3 - 5 |
Upon graduation with the MBBS degree, Widad University College Medical graduates will be provisionally registered with the Malaysian Medical Council (MMC) and begin their housemanship (presently 2 years) in government hospitals.
Once fully registered and usually after 2-3 years of experience as a Medical Officer they can then either start their own practice (GP) or proceed to any other higher qualification in Medicine i.e. clinical specialisations or an academic pathway leading to MSc and ultimately a PhD in a particular area of interest.
